What's your favorite 3rd person control scheme?

I'm working on a XBLA game and I'd like some input on 3rd person control schemes in games and what games get it right and which get it wrong ;o

Devil May Cry 4 does it near perfectly.

For ones that do it bad... Well there's Overlord. The game itself is fun(if a bit slow-paced), but it lacks proper camera control. A 3rd person game with bad camera controls isn't starting off really well. Unless it's something like the first few Resident Evil games.

I thought DMC 4's camera controls were AWFUL. ;p

When I think about games that I've had an easy time controlling in the 3rd person, I think of games like Phantasy Star Online. Cameras that follow loosely (although not TOO loosely) with a button to press which can reset the camera from behind. Using shoulder buttons for camera instead of right stick also seems to work better for me.

One important thing to keep in mind with my opinions on 3rd person controls, though:

Japanese control schemes > American control schemes
