Default A Video Game Themed Wedding

As promised, here are some pics of my wedding. The theme was video games and anime. Mostly video games, though.

Ceremony Procession: Final Fantasy Theme
Ceremony Recession: Final Fantasy Victory Fanfare
Reception -
Introducing Bride & Groom: EverQuest Theme
Garter Toss: Understanding Moji Volume from Mojib Ribbon
Bouquet Toss: Mog's Theme from Final Fantasy VI
First Dance: Eyes on Me from Final Fantasy VII
Last Song of the Night: Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI

We had XBox's, PS2's, and GameCubes set up with Halo, Dance Dance Revolution, and Mario Kart. I didn't want people being bored. There's nothing more painful, in my opinion, than sitting in a chair watching a slide show of a couple's first date, baby pictures, or whatever, so I didn't subject them to that...lol. I told people to play games and have fun. It was a party, after all.

The best man and my son playing Halo:

My husband showing his friend's kids an objective in Halo. And in case you're wondering, we made sure that parents knew what ratings the games had:

Each table represented a game or anime character. Here's the Kefka table:

And here's the Shadow table. Each person took home a CD that we made with an assortment of game music, including the music used during certain events of the wedding and reception:

We weren't able to find anywhere that would decorate a wedding cake with video game characters, so we stuck a little Vivi (FF9) action figure on top of a normal wedding cake. Sorry, he's kind of hard to see:

I wish I could find the picture that someone took of me playing DDR in the dress and high heels while drunk out of my mind at the end of the evening... That was funny. Anyway, our guests (including the ones that had no clue about games) all said that they really had fun and that it was a truly unique and different wedding without being too weird and freaky. It was a good combination of traditional and games. I had fun and, seriously, it was all about me! Hahahaha.

Pretty cool wedding. Definitely more fun than any wedding i've been to. Lots of cool ideas like the soundtrack for guests.

If I'd ever get married(lol), I would definitely want to do something similar to that, anime/video game themed. But for that i'd need a girlfriend that's as geeky as i am >_>. Well, like you said, a lot more interesting than all that cliche stuff we usually see during weddings. Hope you had fun

omg, that's a really cool wedding o.o If I'd get married someday (that's pretty hard to happen ^^) I'd do things like you did... but I would include some Katamari Songs, like Que Sera Sera and Katamari on the Swing. Now that would be crazy! =p

Katamari was definitely in our playlist during the reception. Off the top of my head, we had Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, Katamari, Mojib Ribbon, EverQuest, Xenosaga, Xenogears, .hack... I totally raided my game music collection...

Kinda funny story: I made CD's to give to the DJ company we hired since they didn't have a single game song. (Surprise, surprise...) Then in April 2005, Square Enix had their second stop of the FINAL FANTASY XI iGames Tour 2005. They had a DJ playing game music and it sounded oddly familiar... They were using the music I gave them for the event! That was cool. It was a fun event. My friends and I participated in the Boss Battle thing and actually won. (Iirc, we were the first...):

That is awesome! Well done. I was very satisfied with my wedding even though we didn't have any video game or movie stuff. We built a dancefloor in her grandmother's field and had the reception there...fishfry with fish my in-laws had caught in Corpus Christi, our dance floor, and a bridge we built to cross over the irrigation ditch before the field. Oh, and since it was outside we had a huge trailer with bathroom stalls in it. Everybody complimented us on the bathroom arrangement.
