Rumor of the White 40GB PS3 hitting shelves soon got me thinking, do you care enough about console color to buy a second console just for that color? VG Rumors: $299 Ceramic White Playstation 3 shipping to retailers any day, go on sale Monday If I was insanely rich I'd buy all kinds of colored PSP's but in the real world it really doesn't matter at all to me.

I agree that it might be worth buying a collectible one based on a francise one would like, but buying it simply for colour seems like faliure, especially since one could theoretically paint a console that colour if they wanted it that much without too much hassle. Still, I guess a choice of colours is nice when you first buy a console, I have to endure the scratched silver of my old DS phat every day while my friend pulls out a nice colourful ds lite ;(

I agree with Aon on the collectible part. I personally would get a different system colour/upgrade if it was really really good, only if I knew someone I could sell my old system to. I sold my old fat PS2 with 2 controllers and a couple of games for $100 a few months ago after I bought a new White slim PS2. I sold my Launch Silver DS in order to get a blue DS that came out later, which I still have in addition to a DS lite. It really depends on if I know I can get rid of my older system, since there isn't any reliable thing like eBay where I live.

Color would only matter if there would be different colours out at release. Usually it is just one, so I get that one, but If I could choose.. I'd go for green. granny smith green. <3 or orange like the special edition gamecube set, not shiny orange though
